LADY CHAMP LEWIS PROMOTED TO SR. COMMS OFC
Hi. Chief Executive Officer Cang Snow here. You know, I didn’t study business. I never learned how to run an organization. So I had to grab advice from wherever I could get it, from people who knew better than myself. And one of the best people whispering into my ear has been long time Lightspeed Saber veteran Jowanna Lewis.
Jowanna came to us in 2017, having followed up on an ad looking for fencers seeking a new kind of training. Although the Lightspeed Saber was a wholly different process from her epee training, she adapted quickly, and rose up through the ranks with a deadly combination of patience and tactical bursts of aggression. This strategy carried her all the way through to the grade of C in the open division, and to the very top of the women’s division in first place, where she has remained since 2018.
But Jowanna is not just a powerful competitor. She’s also an accomplished businesswoman, entrepreneur, manager, and organizer. She hosts the LA Music Awards under Radio KSCR, produces podcasts under Internet Radio Organization, and leads podcasting workshops under Simply Podcasting.
Now we’re very excited to bring Jowanna’s experience into the back end of Lightspeed Saber League. Jowanna has graciously accepted the position of Senior Communications Officer, where she will specialize in promoting and marketing events, and reaching out to various teams and individuals we want to be part of our family.
Jowanna’s first major assignment will be recruiting for Lightspeed Strikes Back, our national competitive and educational event for 2022, with a special emphasis on recruiting other women competitors, to make sure that Lightspeed Saber is a great place for anyone of any demographic to find a home!
So Jowanna, thank you for being part of our family, and we’re excited to see all the things you do in 2022 and beyond.
Cang Snow
Chief Executive Officer
