LOCATION
We are moving the National’s event from Las Vegas to Southern California for 2024.
This year’s Nationals is going to be held at Lightspeed Saber Academy in Westminster, California. This is a facility designed specifically for light-based fencing, with 3 built-in light rings optimized for Lightspeed Saber fencing. This location will also bring a bigger audience to Nationals, which has been held in Las Vegas in previous years.

EVENTS
This year’s Nationals is going to look a little different from previous years. But don’t fear: the formats that were loved from last year are returning! As well as some new categories.
The weapons are now divided into different weapons categories. Ren and Rey Sabers will be separated so that fencers compete only against similar weapons, with a Mixed Weapon event as its own third category .
THE WEAPON MASTER
There is a new title being introduced this year, that of the Weapon Master. This title will not be achievable from winning from just one event, no. Fencers who show their skill in competing both with and against every weapon in Lightspeed’s arsenal will be eligible. Fencers will need to compete in all three tournament types—Ren, Rey, and Mixed Weapon—and fight with at least two different weapon types. Weapon types available for use in the Mixed Weapon divisions are Rey Saber, Ren Saber, and Tano Saber.

3v3 TAG TEAM “ANNIHILATION” SKIRMISH
Teams of 3 fight one-on-one but have the opportunity to tag out, change weapons, and huddle to discuss strategy between encounters. Unlike standard Lightspeed Saber, each fencer goes into the fight with a set amount of life points. You can rack up a lot of kills while still being eliminated if you’re not careful. Defense restores life points and revives defeated teammates. It’s a fight of threes on two fronts!
Each team must have at least one man and at least one woman on the team
All weapons
All grades or lack thereof, no membership required
Elimination bracket
Teams of 3 (no more, no less)
TEAM DUET SKIRMISH
Are you a force dyad? Master and padawan? Form a skirmish wing and battle against other wings to see which team reigns supreme.
Each skirmish is made up of six one-on-one matches. The first four matches are reconnaissance bouts— feel out your opponents and see what they can do. Every member of a team fights every member of the other team.
The final two battles are secret— you won’t know who you’re facing until you step in the ring. Discuss strategy with your teammate, plan ahead, and come up with the best strategy to achieve victory.
All genders eligible
Elimination bracket
Teams of two (no more , no less)
