CONTROL POINT DETAILS

  • FORMAT

    • This is estimated to be a double elimination tournament.

    • Games will be in 6-minute rounds (3 minutes control time for each side), best of three.

    • Format is subject to change depending on quantity of teams registered.

  • TEAM COMPOSITION RULES

    • Your team must have exactly four members.

    • Your team must have a GEOGRAPHIC IDENTITY which is a recognized city (you can use neighborhoods for large cities such as Los Angeles). At least one member must live or train in that place.

    • Geographic identity is first-come, first serve, based on registration.

    • All participants must be at least 14 years old.

    • You may have up to two alternates.

  • CO-ED TEAMS

    • To qualify as a co-ed team, you must have at least one man and least one woman in the actively competing squad. See our gender policy.

    • If using an alternate would disqualify your team for co-ed status, your team must pay the cost difference before it may continue competing, or it must forfeit.

  • CHANGES

    • If your team composition changes before the tournament, you will receive a refund or be charged accordingly.

    • Composition changes must be reported before the registration deadline (see contact below).

  • PRIZES & AWARDS

    • Teams will be eligible to be ranked internationally.

    • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will be awarded from a communal cash prize pot combined with a flat payout. Co-ed teams stand to win the most!

    • The total prize pool is estimated to be in the range of $200-$400.

SPECTATORS & TRYOUTS

  • SPECTATORS

    • Spectating is free!

    • You are free to watch any part of the tournament, not just the finals.

  • TRYOUTS (1-3 PM)

    • Try out our sport in a safe, welcoming environment! Our athletes and staff will give you a crash course in Lightspeed fencing, and then you’ll get put into a real referee’d match with friends or family. Your coach will guide you from start to finish.

    • All ages are welcome, but we generally recommend participants be at least 10 years old.

    • We highly recommend you bring a friend or family member.
