Lightspeed Saber Irvine meets at Heritage Community Park in Irvine, California, distributed in the spaces between the tennis courts, the baseball fields, and the basketball courts. Practice sessions are free and open to the public, as long you agree to the safety rules and have signed and agreed to the liability waiver and appearance release form.
To take full advantage of the club, including seeing the full schedule, receiving the benefit of insurance coverage, and practice cancellations and postponements due to illness and weather, sign up and become an official member. You can also contact the captain (see below).
WHO IS THIS FOR?
The outdoor club is primarily for our Southern California members who want to come out and put their skills into practice in a COVID compliant environment. Distancing and MNCs (mouth & nose coverings) are mandatory.
The club is free and open to anyone with a good attitude, and has signed the liability waiver and appearance release. Periodic public practices are posted on Facebook and Instagram.

HEALTH & SAFETY RULES
ILLNESS
If you have ANY symptoms of disease you are asked to stay home (coughing, fever, chills, loss of sense of taste or smell, etc).
As a member, if you develop any suspicious symptoms and have been to a practice in the last week, you must notify the base captain, Daniel Delgado, or the Lieutenant Captain, Brandon Nease, as soon as possible (see below for contact information).
MOUTH & NOSE COVERINGS (MNC)
As a general rule, your MNC should be worn at all times.
If you need to remove your MNC to breath, catch your breath, or take water, do so away from others, at least six feet.
DISTANCING AND DISTRIBUTION
Fencing should occur in the designated fight spaces (see map).
Resting and socializing should occur in the designated rest areas (see map).
All equipment, when not in use, should be placed in the rest areas, and six feet apart from other’s equipment.
Remember these are public spaces and are NOT reserved for us. If they are occupied by other parties you do not have the right to ask them to leave.
OTHER QUESTIONS?
Is this for kids, teens, or adults?
This is primarily for teens and adults.
Are there any classes held?
No classes are held at the club. However, if you ask any member, they will be happy to assist you personally in technique and strategy.
What kind of saber should I get?
For our indoor training, we recommend a saber hilt around 10” long with a 2 ft blade. The blade should be 1” mid grade or 1” heavy grade. For more information on where to get a saber, visit our parent organization’s resources page.
Does this hurt?
It can hurt, yes. You will get bruises. This is an inherently dangerous activity and all safety equipment and rules must be used and respected. You are encouraged to purchase additional safety gear for your own comfort and protection.
