Kyber Combat of Dallas, Texas, is doing battle this weekend in their first major competition. I’m pleased to announce the inclusion of Aiken Lightsaber Club into the Lightspeed Saber Network! There has been a dearth of light-based fencing action in South Carolina, so headmaster Tony Negron has decided to go all in, joining Lightspeed Saber League and also accepting the role as charter rep for The Saber Legion. I cannot speak for Saber Legion but I saw some of his action in the Lightspeed format in a video a few days ago, and I think the newly dubbed DRAGON’S DEN is in good claws.
This is long overdue, but we FINALLY have an EIGHTY PAGE MANUAL showing you how to do Rey I, our beginner level practice sequence (dulon)! This manual is full of pictures and instructions, it’s made for both lefties and righties, and it contains explanations of some of the basic concepts of Lightspeed-saber fencing. So head over to our How To section to get the manual, see the updated video (more moves have been added), and start practicing!
Saturday, February 23 was a day of beginnings and ends. As the first official Lightspeed tournament of 2019, it is the start of this year’s competitive cycle. This was also the first official tournament hosted by Lightspeed’s newest affiliate, Light Force Academy. However, it is the end of an era, as Lightspeed moves to debut and implement it’s new ruleset for the remainder of the competitive season.
In this video, we go over what the rules are for this new fencing weapon, how similar it is to traditional fencing, and how close it is to realistic lightsaber fighting, and what it means for Lightspeed Saber League.
As mentioned earlier, the league is going through some changes, as we often do at the end of the year, following completion of all major tournaments. We are committed to improving our gameplay to make it funner and fairer, and more rewarding of people’s skill and dedication.
Have you been itching to join the league but not sure how? Well now’s your opportunity to get together with others like you and league leadership, who are eager to share their knowledge. Find out everything you need to get started, how to learn on your own, and how to get a group together and build a base. All without having to go anywhere.
