We receive a lot of inquiries from people wishing to start their own squadrons. We want to help and guide all these Lightspeed Saber fans toward their goal, but unfortunately peoplepower is limited. However, we can commit more resources and benefits once a starting formation has reached certain benchmarks.
FORMATION
A Formation is a recognized but unsanctioned group of fencers ostensibly using the Lightspeed Saber rules and equipment. However, they may not run sanctioned Lightspeed tournaments or events, and do not have liability protection. The Formation must use its own liability insurance and waivers.
REQUIREMENTS
To reach Formation status, you must:
Have at least two regular members.
Have all the mandatory and CORRECT gear for all members.
Have at least one social media account.
Submit one photo of those members, holding and/or wearing that gear (see below).
Certify at least one member on the rules exam (Reffing Level 0) at the officer level.
Certify at least two members on the safety exams (these should be your officers).

Your Formation:
Will be marked on our map as a new Lightspeed Formation.
We’ll announce your presence when your application is complete!
Photo requirements: all members wearing or holding all the mandatory equipment, including fencing mask, proper gloves, sabers, elbow guards, shin guards, and the Lightspeed blade. Showing the safety equipment shows that you are athletes engaged in a sport, not just “lightsaber fighters”.
