Lightspeed Saber League has taken a months-long break from introducing any new teams to the network. However, life goes on and our teams are finding ways to adapt. One of those teams is STAR TEMPLE, based in Fort Worth, Texas, and I’m very excited to finally get you to meet this new exciting squadron. But you don’t have to take it from me, Let’s hear it from Star Temple’s captain himself, Dakota Eggert:
Hello, I'm Dakota Eggert, and I'm the head of Lightspeed Saber Fort Worth, also known as "Star Temple". My background is mostly in hand-to-hand combat sports such as boxing and karate, these help me by allowing me to bring in the aspects of team-work and fitness as well as training for movement and agility. I strive to create a welcoming and open atmosphere that emphasizes friendliness and the comfort of all so that anyone can enjoy the sport. Everyone that's a member of the group loves meeting and having fun with new members as well as focusing on fun over victory every match.
We practice Lightspeed every other Sunday at Vitruvian Park in the amphitheater as well as have a bi-monthly free tournament in the Fort Worth area Water Gardens. I'm assisted by my trusted friend and officer Ty Esquenazi as well as assistant instructor and Co-founder, Marc Zipper. While Dakota is not natively trained in weapon-based combat, he and Marc got their start in Lightspeed Saber with Lightspeed Saber Dallas (Kyber Combat); Marc himself is seasoned in traditional fencing. So we know that Star Temple has a great foundation to be a great squadron. Also of special interest is their frequent tournament structure, which provides them lots of real world and practical experience. Remember that practice is practice, and competition is practice.
