From the moment of his first class, he was doing things beyond his appropriate level. Max M, from Laredo, Texas, joined the Lightspeed Saber Academy virtual class at age 11 and, for his first class, learned the advanced Unit 1 sequence Blitz IV— a sequence not normally learned until halfway through the unit. Shortly after, with the help of his parents, Max built his own Lightspeed Saber training droid to practice on in his backyard. This was just a taste of his level of motivation, something he would carry on through the rest of his time in the virtual class.
Max is very often the first person to arrive for class, sometimes as much as a half hour early. He charms his instructors with his surprising wit and precociousness, having opinions on everything from Star Wars, school, and even the presidential debates. He is known to practice his sequences often, sometimes with a training dummy, sometimes breaking things as he does so. He’s also been known to cheat during the workouts of the day. Despite this, there is no doubt how much he has grown and improved in both his skill and his physical prowess
When it was announced that the virtual class was closing, Max rushed to complete his exams to ensure that he would attain knighthood in time. He hustled on Garrison I, distinguished himself in Blitz IV, and earned a ‘G’ on Garrison II after having only practiced it for two days. With Garrison II, the sixth and final sequence completed, Max, now 12, was officially a Lightspeed Saber Page Knight Mach I ( “page” being the modifier for students his age at the time of graduation), achieved on the last day of class.
