We’re pleased to announce the graduation of Josh Blum, captain of the newly formed Lightspeed Saber Fredericksburg, with a master certification in LSO Unit 1.
Josh came to us with no prior knowledge of Lightspeed Saber, lightsaber fighting, or fencing, but brought his passion for teaching and learning to the table regardless, and quickly proved himself an invaluable asset to the league.
Josh, from the very start, showed his motivation by creating his own “cheat sheets” for completing the basic sequences. Counseling staff found these sheets so useful that he was eventually asked to make these sheets— now transformed into guides— for all the sequences in Unit 1. Josh crafted these guides at the same time he studied for the master certification, and now, thanks to him, they are freely available for everyone to make use of in the sequence section.
As both a school teacher and a blacksmith, we know that Josh has a unique set of skills for training his new squadron of high school cadets, and representing the league well on the east coast. With the Lightspeed knowledge he has now absorbed and even helped to create, there isn’t any doubt that powerful jedi will be emerging out of the VA area under his umbrella, and we can’t wait to see them in action in 2022.
Josh, thank you for entrusting us with your lightsaber education. Thank you for choosing Lightspeed. And thank you for all your contributions to the sport so far. We’ll see you on the battlefield.
